Old Country Market

This is a local favorite. the old country market or goats on the roof. its called that because.. goats live on the roof! its awesome, they have tons of really neat stuff here all the time, and lots of yummy food, a lot of local and organic groceries. they have a bakery with pizzas, breads, cookies and other sweet baked things . They also have a whole section of the market with tons of different stuff like toys, art supplies, dishes and tons of other random goodies. Another part is the restaurant which has great food too. The picture above is a picture of the ice cream shop, they have a lot of ice cream haha :D

They're are more little shops all around the area of the market too. All the stores are so unique and cute. They're is also a big fruit and veggie market outback that sells mostly local and organic fruits and veggies. And behind that is a big beautiful house full of amazing handmade furniture.

I have been going to the OCM since I was a little kid and every year they have new exciting stuff but its never changed too much. Here are some more pictures, I love taking pictures here.

I LOVED these little guys! They were so neat I wanted to get one of each. But I cant buy to much stuff before we move because we really have no more room right now... but once we do move I'm gonna buy a bunch and hang them like this somewhere off branches. The second ones were made out of pine cones! and there were lots of other ones too.

I want all they're dishes

Wonderland

So I have to say I am getting very excited about the new Alice in Wonderland which comes out this friday. Not only am I so excited because Alice in Wonderland has been my all time favorite movies/books of all time. But also because my work has a promotion going on with the theater in the mall and everyone from our work is getting a privite screening on opening night after the theater closes!! I'm so excited! it will be in 3d of course, and we get all the free popcorn and pop we want, amazing! There 10 girls at my work and everyone is aloud to bring one guest so I even get to bring Matt :D

I dont know what is is about Alice in Wonderland that I've always been so drawn to, something about this other world has always seemed so appealing. We had a whole series of books that were probably from the 70's. The books with all in blue and white, I used to look through them forever as a kid and imagine myself going to wonderland. Thinking about it now a lot of the things in the book were sort of twisted in that wonderland kind of way but they never scared me at all. I wish I still had those books!

I really hope the new movie lives up to my expectations.

Tofu Curry

I make this a lot, so easy and so yummy. All i do is fry up tons of veggies, tofu, cashews, and then add milk ( I usually use soy) and I use the glico curry blocks. You mix it all together and done! And we usually eat it over rice  nom nom nom. I like the red curry but sometimes we use the green or yellow too if I feel like something a little spicier.

Hair Stuffs

So I decided I would start doing some posts about hair. Processes, products I like, styling tips, colors and cuts I've done. Advice from a Hairstylist. So feel free to ask any questions you might have!

So here's a color correction I did a few weeks ago. A good reminder about how bad box dyes can go. Lots of people box dye their hair and do an awesome job. On the other hand, a lot of people buy a box of hair color from the drugstore expecting to get the color shown on the box. There is SO much more to take into consideration, underlying pigment, existing color, porus ends, natural regrowth. If you have anything but natural blonde hair, you probably wont get the results you expect to get. and most of the time in the end you spend more money when you were trying to save a few bucks. So that pumpkin spice latte copper brown is now more like a baby food orange, and you come see me to get it fixed. All of the sudden what originally would have cost you around 70 dollars for me to do, now is a MUCH bigger process.. and is costing you a lot more.

So heres a little peak into a color correction

This lovely girl had boxed dyed her hair. As you will see, it didn't come out anything like she wanted it. She was about 5 different colors, she had banding and of course the hair was damaged and porus. It took about 3 hours, four color formulas and a lot of foil. But it was worth it in the end!

Before (I'd already started before I remembered I wanted to take pictures)

After

TaDa!

and really, this was actually an easy one compared to some I've done. So my best advice is, know what your getting into! Don't expect that coloring your hair yourself will be any easier or cheaper. In most cases its neither cheap or easy if it doesn't turn out. So always know what your getting into :)

thats all for now

John Paul Pet

I have to share this. I mentioned in a previous post about being excited about the new paul mitchelle pet line. Its really awesome, I bough the waterless foam shampoo and the conditioning tea tree spray from work the other day and I am absolutly bananas over them!

The foam shampoo is great because our pup hates being bathed. The funny thing is, Koda loves water.. He swims and swims all summer long. I guess the bathtub can be a scarey thing for a lot of dogs though, and being that hes about 60 lbs its always quite the task just trying to get him in there.. esspescailly if Matts not home. So I love this waterless shampoo, I just put it all over him and brush it out and it works really well!

The tea tree spray is great too. I love tea tree, it cures all haha. It also repells fleas and tics which is an awesome natural benifit. I have been useing it on my cat too and she loves it! She just sits there with the most loving look on her face while I spray and brush her. Both of the coats are so incredibly shiny and soft now.

The line is a lot bigger and I want to try everything in it. I have a sample of the oatmeal shampoo that I will also try if I can every get him into the bathtub.

All the products are also very afforable which I love. And I think my favorite part is at the bottom of every bottle where is says "Cruelty Free, Tested On Humans First" heh.

Being a hairstylist, I always try and get my clients on good quality salon products and now there pets can have the same luxuries ! and at a great price, even better! I love it :D

Sunny Weekend

I am so lucky, today and yesterday (my days off) have been absolutely beautiful. I've been so inspired by all the beautiful sunshine. Yesterday I made myself an awesome "spring" mix cd. Okay so I know its not really spring yet, but it sure feels like its on its way. Outside its still cold, but inside looking out you would never know. So I just had to make myself a really good mix of music I want to listen to driving around in my car with my sunglasses on, dreaming of summer and its beautiful warm air.

So here's the lineup.
Gray Weather - Gregory and the Hawk
Fade Me - Daniel Wesley
A Wish - Gregory and the Hawk
California - Mates of State
Everlong - Foo Fighters
Swiss Army Romance - Dashboard Confessional
Radio - Daniel Wesley
The Rat - The Walkmen
Pressure - Paramore
Panic Switch - Silversun Pickups
Saturday Night - The Misfits
The Places You have Come to Fear the Most - Dashboard Confessional
Substitution - Silversun Pickups
Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me is Gone - The Walkmen
I'm Your Puppet - Gregory and the Hawk
Yesterday - Daniel Wesley
So Impossible - Dashboard Confessional
Isabelle - Gregory and the Hawk

I'm pretty in love with this mix right now.

I also made myself a delicious lunch yesterday. It was a giant salad that contained romaine lettuce, avocado, about an ounce of cheese, cucumber, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and flax seed. All with half a fresh lemon squeezed over it and about a teaspoon of homemade balsamic and oil dressing. It was so yummy. I ate almost the whole thing and what I didn't finish Koda the dog gobbled up ( I always share with him as long as what I'm eating is acceptable for dogs) He ate everything but left the cucumber HAH what a silly dog.

Well I'm off to enjoy some more of this amazing sunny day.

owl love you

So I may be the one obsessed with owls... But Matt appreciated my gift just the same :). I'm so for handmand gifts over anything bought but I also got him some chocolate because come on now whats valentines day without chocolate. It was sponge bob chocolate actually, it really just doesn't get better than that.

I have to say I am so extremely excited that the days are getting longer. I am dreaming of the day when I go outside from work (I work in a mall so no windows) and its actually light out, maybe even sunny?! I dream of this daily. Today as me and my co worker walked outside after work, I got overly excited at the fact that there was till some blue to the sky, even though the sun had gone down. I actually had a smile on my face the whole way home. Bring on summer!!

Things I am very excited for this week, my tattoo consultation on Thursday, getting the Paul Mitchell pet line in at work (its really amazing, I'm so excited to buy everything for my wonderful and spoiled doggy) and doing a lot of painting and cooking on my days off.

Hello world

Hello! so i have decided to start a blog... I dont know how this is gonnago for me.. its been YEARS since i had a blog, I'd say about 6? Really, I just want a space for me to be able to gather all the things i love about my life in one place. So this will be a place for me to post my art, photos, cooking and just anything else in my life that makes me happy. Plus maybe some day to day ramblings.

I plan on HOPEFULLY.. posting at leased once a week. I get two whole days off so this shouldn't be too big a problem.. but we will see haha.

So a little about me maybe? seems like a good place to start... Well.. I'm a 22 year old hairstylist (we dont like to be called hairdressers anymore hehe) from beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I am currently head over heals in love with a wonderful boy named Matthew. We have a beautiful dog, Koda, who is almost 3 years old. Koda is a boxer/staffie/lab ect. mix and he is absolutely the best dog ever (in my eyes anyways heh). I love owls and anything hello kitty, tree houses, feathers, nature, any cute little animals really.. I love music, jack johnson, ben harper, msi, dallas green, sublime, the misfits, bob marley just to name a few. In life my biggest goals are to do everything I get a chance to do, even if it scares me (especially if it scares me) have lots and lots of babies,  lots of love, and travel, travel, travel.

The world inspires me on a daily basis, I hope I can share some of that inspiration here.
